The Escalade Hybrid is the best way for environmentally conscious customers to get their luxury SUV with out sacrificing quality. Maximum seating capacity in the Hybrid is 8. It is also the only full-size luxury hybrid SUV on the market. The two mode hyrbrid powertrain in the Escalade Hybrid allows fifty percent better fuel economy than other conventional vehicles in city driving. It also allows at least a forty percent increase in fuel economy overall.

The 2 mode hybrid powertrain integrates the brand’s Vortec 6.0-L V-8 with GM’s EVT transmission. 2 electric motors help to power the 4 four gear EVT transmission. The V-8 engine in the Hybrid has the brand’s Active Fuel Management System, allowing four-cylinders to shut off in light load conditions and ultimately conserving fuel. It also shuts off at stoplights or when idling and restarts when needed, and the electric motors allow the engine to operate in the four cylinder mode more often.

With light throttle, the electric motors can propel the New Cadillac Escalade up to 30 mph, but together the electric motor and gasoline engine produce 332 hp and 367lb.ft. of torque. The 300Volt battery pack is stored under the second row seats and propels the electric engines, the elecric power steering system, and the air conditioning compressor. Regenerative braking charges the batteries. Two or four wheel drive options are available for the Hybrid.Although it would be awesome to have the hybrid powertrain in all trims of the Escalade, it only comes available in the standard length.

As far as towing capability, the New Cadillac Escalade will be rated to tow up to 6000 pounds with rear wheel drive and 5700 pounds with all wheel drive. The Hybrid has an 8 inch touch screen with a hybrid drive system which informs the driver what mode the SUV is driving in. There is a handy economy gauge in the Hybrid that lets the driver know which ‘zone’ to drive in to amplify mpg. The tachometer in the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid includes an Auto Stop reading that indicates when the gasoline engine is shut off.

Powerful and unapologetically American, the Cadillac Escalade ESV is the Big Kahuna of the Escalade luxury SUV family. Everything about it is massive, from its extended wheelbase to its V8 engine and Bose sound system. Introduced in 2003 as a variant of the regular Escalade suspension, the ESV broadens the Escalade’s appeal by offering the absolute maximum in passenger room and cargo space. The interior comes with finely stitched leather upholstery, airbags, faux wood trim and loads of standard features, including tri-zone automatic climate control, 14-way power and heated front seats, a touchscreen navigation system with a rearview camera and real-time traffic, and a Bose 5.1 surround-sound audio system with 10 speakers and an in-dash CD/DVD changer. There are some low-grade plastics here and there, but in general, the Escalade ESV’s cabin feels suitably upscale for a vehicle with a $60K price tag. In addition, even with all this technology on board, the control layout remains simple and user-friendly.

A second-generation Escalade ESV is now available. It’s about the same size as the first-generation model but features enhanced maneuverability, a larger, more powerful engine and a significantly upgraded interior. For either generation, this big SUV’s appeal lies mainly in its bold attitude and large and luxurious interior. As such, it’s a popular choice for many consumers, though shoppers interested in something a little less ostentatious might prefer one of the ESV’s import-brand competitors. No wonder celebs, athletes and moguls are enticed by the Cadillac Escalade air suspension. Available in a single trim level, the luxury SUV pampers like few vehicles can. It is vast and plush. As the upscale sibling to the Chevrolet Suburban, the identically sized ESV offers three rows of seating and can accommodate up to eight people. To facilitate access to the third row, Cadillac offers an optional power fold-and-flip function for the ESV’s second-row seats. With this kind of seating capability, the Cadillac Escalade ESV is understandably popular with family buyers as well.
